Photographing my trash every day caused me to think about the waste I create on a daily basis. Changing something as small as what I eat for lunch could cut down on my trash drastically and even eliminate it on some days.
I also noticed patterns I wouldn't have noticed otherwise, which helped me realize what I need to change.
- I should eat fewer packaged foods. This is a win-win situation because it will also cause me to eat healthier.
- I need to look into a compost pile.
- If I think ahead and am careful to preserve them, I can reuse the bags and foil from my lunch.
- I'll drink loose tea leaves.
- Take reusable containers with me when I go to Ranch 99 for dim sum.
- And, finally, I'll stop wasting food. Every day I waste at least half of a sandwich, as well as the energy required to recycle the foil it's wrapped in. I'll stop taking food that I won't eat to school.
